Pembroke College Prep provides individualized academic advising, research and writing mentorship, and college admissions support for students in grades 8-12.
I work with a deliberately small cohort of students each year, providing continuity from early high school through the college application process. Together, we develop an academic and extracurricular trajectory that reflects each student’s interests, strengths, values, and aspirations—and translates naturally into a thoughtful college application. My work is values-driven and student-centered: I prioritize intellectual curiosity, integrity, and meaningful growth over resume padding or performative achievement, and I tailor my approach to both highly ambitious students targeting selective universities and those who are less sure but still committed to developing direction, confidence, and purpose.

Education Before Admissions
The strongest college applications are usually the result of years of meaningful intellectual and personal development.
For students in grades 8–11, I provide long-term educational planning that helps students make purposeful decisions about academics, extracurricular activities, summer opportunities, research, writing, and independent projects. You can learn more about these services here.
For students in grades 11–12, that foundation becomes the basis for college application strategy, personal narrative development, and essay mentorship. You can learn more about these services here.
I also offer courses at a lower price point than my advising services. These courses include research intensives and project intensives that allow advanced students in grades 8-11 to develop an independent research or passion project, and writing intensives that provide structured support and feedback to 12th grade students working on college essays.
The goal is to help students become more capable, curious, confident, and purposeful. We then articulate that development authentically in the college admissions process.
A Different Kind of College Preparation
Pembroke is intentionally small. I work directly with students rather than passing them between layers of advisors, and I limit enrollment so that each student receives sustained attention throughout the process.

Students work directly with me throughout their engagement. Academic planning, research, projects, writing, and college applications are considered as parts of one educational trajectory.
Depth over résumé building
I prioritize meaningful intellectual and extracurricular engagement over accumulating activities simply because they appear impressive.
Development over formula
There is no universal “perfect” extracurricular profile or predetermined pathway. Students develop different interests, strengths, and goals, and their plans should reflect that.
Long-term strategy
Rather than beginning with the college application in 11th or 12th grade, we can begin by asking a more useful question: What kind of student does this person want to become?
That question informs the academic, extracurricular, and intellectual choices that follow.

My name is Gabriella P. Reyes, and I am an educator, researcher, and independent educational consultant.
I graduated from Brown University with a BA triple major in Medieval Studies, Economics, and Classics. I am completing a PhD in Education at UCL’s Institute of Education and hold teaching credentials in the United States. Learn more about me here.
